What are ERISA and COBRA ?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor website, ERISA, is the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, passed into law in 1974 to establish federal standards regarding pension and health plans.

Another act called COBRA or the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, deals with an individual's rights to continue in a group health plan after leaving the group.
